Sports Diver is the next step in BSAC’s Diver Training Programme following successful completion of the Ocean Diver qualification

Sports Diver allows divers to experience a wider variety of challenging open water conditions, and to learn essential techniques to prepare you for diving to a depth of 35 metres

For divers to be able to begin working towards a Sports Diver course you must have successfully completed an Ocean Diver course (or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency) and be aged 14 or older

As part of the Sports Diver course, you will develop your skills to know how to identify if something is wrong and what to do in an emergency. This includes self-rescue, recovery of unresponsive divers, and basic life support.

The course consists of six theory lessons, a practical session on how to support a Dive Manager, a sheltered water rescue skills session, and six open water dives

At the end of the Sports Diver course, you will be competent to complete a series of depth progression dives enabling you to dive to 35 meters, and understand more about utilising different mixes of gases to extend your time underwater
