The BSAC Ocean Diver course delivered via Hoddesdon Sub Aqua Club, is open to anyone from the age of 14
You’ll just need to demonstrate that you can comfortably swim 200 metres in a pool.
You will not need any scuba specialist kit to begin with as the Club will be able to loan you what you need while you get started
Our qualified and experienced instructors will begin by getting you comfortable breathing underwater in the pool. You will then progress to sessions in sheltered water.
After that you will progress to a series of at least four dives to develop your skills and confidence in open water
- Learnhow to use basic scuba kit
- Learn to control your buoyancy and underwater movements
- Understand your basic scuba diving safety skills
- Follow six theory lessons alongside at least five sessions in a pool or sheltered water, and at least four open water dives
- Complete a theory test
A BSAC Ocean Diver qualification is an internationally recognised certification that will enable you to dive to depths of 20 metres in open water around the world.
You can develop your diving experience via further BSAC qualifications and Skills Development Courses (SDC) that are offered all over the Country at regular intervals.
The SDCs are advertised on the BSAC website and are listed in the monthly SCUBA magazine that BSAC members receive as part of their membership
